State
and Federal Training Grants
All states are looking for strong economic growth. Since it has
been shown time and time again that economic growth is directly
related to a well-educated and highly motivated workforce, many
states have set aside money that companies can access for training
their employees.
Rhode
Island employers for example can offset some of their training
costs by obtaining state tax credits. These tax credits will allow
you to trim your taxes while training your workforce.
The State of Rhode Island offers a Jobs Training Tax Credit, which
allows companies a credit of up to $5,000 per employee, over a three-year
period for retraining or upgrading skills.
Grants
The Rhode Island Human Resource Investment Council
offers an Employee Investment Grant,
which is designed to allow employers with 100 or fewer employees
to retrain workers for new technologies, new systems, and organizational
restructuring. This dollar-for-dollar cash-matching grant offers
employers up to $10,000 in training expense reimbursement.
Companies that are committed to improving their
ability to compete in the local and global marketplace may apply
for an Excellence Through Training Grant,
which offers up to $30,000 in funding assistance.
There are funding programs both federal and state offered
throughout the Northeast
